I am a fan of Angel, the series which came as a spin-off from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. While I never watched Buffy because of lack of the WB network, I was finally able to watch Angel during the summer reruns between the first and second seasons. I just loved it! Angel is truly a great show on its own merit.
You might want to know what's so great about the show. Well, it contains action, humor, suspense, romance, and quite a lot of different elements. Over it all is a whole noir feeling, and a theme of actions, their consequences and seeking redemption.
Besides that, the writing on the show is some of the wittiest I have ever heard anywhere on TV. Plus, the actors (special nods to Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof and J. August Richards) are especially good at their craft.
